Larry Brown = supreme asshole (nh)

In news that shocked nobody, Larry Brown will be introduced as New York Knicks' head coach on Thursday. Lets get the obvious out of the way, Larry is a great coach. He took a team that no one thought had a chance last year and dominated a Laker team that everyone had given the championship to. He then brought them back to the Finals this year and took the Spurs to seven games. So only an idiot would question his coaching skills. That being said Brown is an asshole.

While he is partially responsible for taking the Pistons back to the Finals last season, he is also probably responsible for the losing. Im sorry but rumors about a head coach taking another job in the middle of the playoffs is unacceptable. The talking heads on sports radio always talk about player distractions, where was the outcry? This guy was in serious talks with the Cavaliers while his team is still fighting in the playoffs.

Of course this is not the first time Brown has done this. His career is riddled with early exits. There is a reason why a coach this great only has one ring, that reason being that he never sticks around long enough to see the fruit of his labors. Someday GMs are going to realize that Brown is not a long term solution. Detroit was the one place he won a championship in, and not even that kept him happy. Chances are in 2-4 years Brown will be looking for another job after taking the Knicks to the playoffs. Is a playoff berth worth having to rebuild in a few years? Maybe for the Knicks and alot of teams it is.

I usually cut Larry brown some slack, not because he was my old camp counselor like Kornheiser, but because the man took the Clippers to the playoffs. . . twice. TWICE! After that miracle, I think a guy could get cut some slack for jumping around a little, but he just keeps doing this.

I did hear that the Detroit media was hammering Larry during the Finals for being a distraction. Of course when I was hearing this it was from Jason Whitlock bitching about how Joe Dumars was making Larry look like the bad guy, so Joe could ship him out, and get a coach who'll play Darko. But Whitlock is a guy who thought Elivs Grbac was a better QB for the Chiefs than Rich Gannon, so what the hell does he know?

I will say, I don't think Larry can turn the Knicks around. They've got Marbury, 9 undersized power forwards, a entire roster of bad contracts, and Isiah Thomas. No playoffs.

Ahh but what trumps all that is that they play in the eastern conference, you just described 3/4's of the conference

Yeah that may trump most of it, but I repeat: Isiah Thomas is their GM. He makes trades, and gets Larry brown players. Thus Larry brown has no chance.
