Its about fuckin' time

According to the Hollywood Reporter, the life and times of rap legend Notorious B.I.G. will be the subject of a movie to be distributed by Fox Searchlight. Fox has hired Cheo Hodari Coker, the last guy to interview him, to write the script, and is looking at Antwan Fuqua (Training Day, Tears of the Sun) to direct it.

Sez MSNBC:

"The film will be produced by B.I.G.’s mother, Voletta Wallace, and his former managers Wayne Barrow and Mark Pitts. Barrow said the trio had been trying to get a film off the ground for the last five years.

“People wanted to give us check and do a film that they wanted to do, but Searchlight gave us the opportunity to really be able to come in and tell the story the way it was supposed to be told,” Barrow said. “It’s not just a hip-hop film, it’s a film of life and a film of love. We didn’t want to sell our souls to the devil, so to speak, just to get a check. The story is too important, not just to us but to hip-hop.”

And there you have it. Finally someone will be making money off of B.I.G.'s story. Two things will determine whether this movie will be any good. The first and most obvious is who will be playing the lead role. The second is what aspects of his life will the movie focus on. Either way I'ma go see it.

I heard about this a while back, but i heard that Fuqua pulled out and they weren't gonna make it.

Also, Sylvester Stallone may or may not be working on a movie about Biggie:

And there was a documentary about the deaths of Biggie and Pac, aptly titled Biggie and Tupac. I haven't seen it, i'll probably have to plunk down $15 bucks and order it online.
